Creating our own ways of 'Walking' for Peace

I've been following the Buddhist monks on their Walk for Peace from Fort Worth Texas to Washington DC.

I have been deeply affected by their mission as I see the growing numbers of people who’ve come out to support them across each state as they have walked. Even though I have not seen them in person, I feel deeply connected – not just to the monks, but also to all the thousands of people who gather to support PEACE.

It's not about following their Buddhist path or their way of doing things, but rather that they do this simply for Peace, and it’s spreading. Several people reporting on seeing them express tears, and it seems as if this mission touches hearts and inspires us to ‘Walk for Peace’ in our own way.

So, I have been wondering for me – how can I 'Walk' for Peace. Certainly, I can walk with them in spirit as their leader, Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara, asks of us. I also feel I'd like to do something in my own daily life to express this.

So, I ask of you – if you are called to join me – please send your suggestions of what you would like to do to promote Peace. These can be simple acts. Create a peaceful space in your home, even with such simple things as making your bed or washing the dishes with mindfulness.

I've also been deepening my meditation practice and my daily Jin Shin Jyutsu (self-help gentle healing touch.)

So, please send me your suggestions and we can build a group to ‘Walk’ for Peace with Mindfulness and Peace of Mind.

Come gather with me – wherever you are – let's commit to create and spread Peace. Also, you can check out the official page for the Walk for Peace Community and follow along on their journey here: https://www.facebook.com/walkforpeaceusa/mentions. On the evening of February 11th, they will hold a Lovingkindness Meditation in Washington DC, live-streamed on their FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/walkforpeaceusa.

As Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara reminds us all to say each morning, "Today is going to be my peaceful day."

May you and all beings be well, happy, and at peace.
